My Name is Matt Marwood, I started the very first mattswebpage.com in 2002. I was in grade 6 at the time and the site was very basic back then. It was my first ever website and i didnt even really know any code. I just started it to see how thing would actually work on the web. As time went on i learned basic HTML, and by the end of grade 7 i could do the basics of websites and make static pages. I wanted to go beyond this and make cool interactive pages, One of my dreams since the very beginning was to have people actually log into a website(yes, thats all!) This was something that couldnt be done with simple html. In grade 8 i started to learn PHP and javascript, PHP is a server side language that works in the background and is like the websites brains. It takes all the information that the user puts in, and does things accordingly with that information. Javascript is a Browser language and controls things like new windows browser functions. My First interactive site i made at the end of grade 8. It was http://www.zelocalz.com. I started this online marketplace site long before there was a usednanaimo or usedvictoria or craigslist. My only other obstacle was Ebay. I tried to get it off the ground for a long time. But my primitive knowledge of PHP and web programming held it back and then UsedVictoria and craigslist came along. Which basically sent my dream down the drain. In Grade 9 I started work on Filepile.ca, My best creation to date. It is an online file storage facility. This site requires some complex coding and took me the whole year to get things right. After filepile i decided that i had had enough of school firewalls and was able to use my website as a server to get around school firewalls. To date i am still using this system and it is flawless. After grade 7 Mattswebpage was left and zelocalz took up all my time, this is the first time i have done anything to mattswebpage.com since then!
